Peut-Être Theatre[편집]

Peut-Être Theatre is an award-winning dance theatre company that creates live shows and podcasts for children. They are a registered company and charity and have been operating since 2008.

Current company members include: Daphna Attias (Artistic Director), Maya Politaki (Associate Director), Bridie Donaghy (Producer), and Caleb Lee (Touring Manager, Asia)

Background[편집]

Led by Artistic Director Daphna Attias, Peut-Être Theatre  has been creating early theatrical experiences for young audiences since 2008. Their work has an idiosyncratic physical style and their mission is to make it accessible to children of all abilities and backgrounds.

Production history[편집]

Peut-Être Theatre has produced 10 full-length productions so far, alongside other projects such as R&Ds, workshop series for children and professionals, hospital creative programmes for in & outpatients, hospital residencies, and regular national and international touring.The company’s previous productions include:

  • The Dark
  • Tidy Up(2016-20) inspired by children's desire to create order, patterns and systems, this show is a witty and inspiring journey to discover if chaos and order can coexist. Tidy Up was an amazing collaboration with the GOSH Arts Council, which runs art participatory programme for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
  • Shh…Bang!(2015-20) A delicate dance-theatre performance for children and adults, The show, in collaboration with The Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR), introduces audiences to the world of sound that surrounds us. The tour was successfully completed in UK, including the China, and the US.
  • Dare to Sea(2014-15) is a Franco(La Manœuvre)-British collaboration bringing together dancers, circus and visual artists. The aquatic world is conjured through hand-made animated projections.
  • Cluck(2014) is a journey to find your inner musician through an outdoor theatrical mini performance filled with trombone, trumpet and saxophone with three actors and musicians. A Small Wonders commission created in collaboration with Dante or Die Theatre.
  • The Tin Soldier(2012-17) is captivating show that combines live music, dance, colorful characters, and the story of a tin soldier and a paper ballerina. It was co-commissioned by the Civic Theatre Barnsley and funded by Arts Council England.
  • Draw Me A Bird/The Little Bird Who Stayed For Winter(2013-15) is a dance-music-theatrical piece for children and adults about little birds in a big city. In collaboration with the RSPB, based on their knowledge of the birds, they used contact improvisation, acrobatic balance, and choreography that uses elevation and partner work.
  • The Bug and the Butterfly(2010) is a dance-music theatre piece for children and their grown-ups about the little world in the grass, inspired by the poetry of Frederico García Lorca.In partnership with the Oxford University Museum of Natural History, they work with entomologists to show how powerful the marriage between poetry and the natural world can be.
  • This is a That(2008-10) is show and workshop for children and adults about the grand and magical physical and musical journey of a father and daughter who let their imagination run wild.


Peut-Être Theatre has collaborated with and been supported by a diverse variety of partners including: Great Ormond Street Hospital, ZSL London Zoo, University of Oxford Natural History Museum, The Institute of Sound and Vibration, The Wellcome Trust, The RSPB, Small Wonders, Lighthouse Poole, PASS Circus Channel.

Peut-Être Theatre has toured to prestigious national venues such as: Royal Albert Hall, South Bank Centre, National Theatre, Lyric Hammersmith, Roundhouse, The Place, The Egg, Brighton Dome, Polka, The Curve, Arts Depot, Barnsley Civic

Internationally to the Lincoln Center in New York, the TYA conference in Atlanta, ASK in China, ŻiguŻajg Festival in Malta, as well as venues in Singapore, France, and Israel.

Podcast[편집]

Peut-Être Theatre produces digital work including our award-winning podcast, Audiomoves. Audiomoves is a podcast series designed to encourage children to move, dance and get creative with a screen-free activity. The podcast is free and available to download from all major podcast platforms. It is the perfect activity for families, school groups and use in hospitals. Each series was created by Peut-Être Theatre’s Artistic Director, Daphna Attias, and written in partnership by two distinctive artists, exploring themes like light, forces, rhythm, and the weather.

Partners[편집]

Peut-Être Theatre’s artistic director Daphna Attias is also the co-artistic director of critically-acclaimed site-specific company, Dante or Die.

Peut-Être has grown alongside Dante or Die’s development over the past decade and many of the artists who have collaborated with Peut-Être have also made work with Dante or Die.

Dante or Die has collaborated with leading arts venues across the UK including Traverse Theatre, The Lowry & The Almeida alongside grassroots organisations in the localities in which they make work. Dante or Die are SITELINES Associate Artists at South Street Reading, which champions performance in unusual locations.
